Introduction

This project was done in the 2003/2004 Physics 420 class at the University of British Columbia.  The purpose of the project is to expose grade 11 and 12 students to applications of physics beyond the common kinematics situations they are faced with in class.  Specifically, the project was created with the objective of catching students attention with the physics of extraordinary phenomena as the weather.  Violent storms, beautiful displays of lightning, and even the gentle sea breezes that cool our city in the summers can all be explained through physical concepts.
